Vilaflor - The highest located municipity of Tenerife

Vilaflor is the highest located town on Tenerife at an altitude of 1400 meters above the sea level. Many foreigners, especially British and Germans have their residences here and that’s why Vilaflor is one of the communities where proportionally more foreigners live. The town  only has a population of 2000 inhabitants and therefore is very quiet. If you decide to come in winter time to Vilaflor you must bring appropriate clothing - remember the altitude. During the night it can get really cold although it will not snow. Vilaflor is the birthplace of the only Saint from Central America called "Brother Pedro de Betancur" (1626 - 1667), canonised on July 31st 2002 by Pope John Paul II. Since that time, every year during a week a big festival is held in Vilaflor.
